Mapping was a subjective art until the advent of aerial photography, and even then, skewing the perspective and stretching lines of longitude and latitude allowed for creative interpretations, and still does. The Instituto de Estadistica y Cartografía de Andalucia has a comprehensive, digitised and searchable catalogue of maps, some ancient. This one, dating from 1705-1714, is one of several featured on Senderismo Tercer Tiempo, a blog run by a walking group based in Villamartin who have a wealth of information on the Sierra de Cadiz (Spanish only).
