THE SALON SESSIONS

We continue our series of Salon Sessions at La Donaira featuring international stars and intimate gatherings, with a rising talent who happens to be almost local. Award-winning, Malaga-based cellist Juan Manuel Márquez Vázquez will perform solo in the relative cool of the evening on July 21.

The winner of Spain’s National Cello Competition, Juan Manuel has studied and performed across Europe, and currently plays with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga. He has a repertoire that spans chamber music, baroque and, as part of Colectivo Neopercusion, the contemporary, and is working on a unique project, a musical voyage around Picasso’s life and the artist’s friendships with various composers. He will be weaving his interests together to provide the perfect music for a summer evening, and the last of our Salon Sessions before pause festival - (Aug 14-Aug 19, www.pausefestival.com).
